Ride-On King Wiki

"A monster born from wolves or wild dogs. It is strong enough that even orcs or knights avoid to battling it. A superior species that was revered as mountain gods in ancient times. They are usually led by an alpha."

Ride-On King, Chapter 5.

Garms are monsters who possess similar physical appearances to those of wolves and dogs but far more greater in terms of size. Unlike most wolves or dogs, Garms are actually capable to use communication via what it seems to be telepathy to any other creatures capable to understand verbal words. Similar like wolf packs, Garms usually have a leader in a group.

Summary[]

Appearance[]

Garms are very similar to wolves in general appearance, pointy ears, brown fur and most physical traits are very canines. What stands out the most of their appearances are their massive heights, far greater than what a regular wolf can be. The leader can be possibly even more bigger than their peers, an example being the Queen Garm, her height is nearly twice than her pups and her fur is completely white. It is also possible there is more colorful types of Garms, though by far there is only a white Garm and brownish-dark Garms.

If a Garm where to be a Mountain Deity, it's appearance will vastly change and have a more divine appearance. The only known case of a Garm becoming a Mountain Deity being the Queen of Garms after humans plead her to protect the village.

Attitude[]

Garms appears to be a predator in the forests and mountains, they can be hostiles but they possess an unique ability such as communicating with other races (either be humans, elves or other creatures and animals like bears, orcs, etc.) with what it seems to be telepathy.

Despite their attitude being like the wolves, some exception do exist: the Garm Queen has able to show mercy and benevolence towards slave children who have went through painful experiences like her and decided to protect them and welcome them as her own "children". The Queen also welcomed the Emperor Demonic Bear as one of her subordinates (though she initially wanted to carve the bear and use it's flesh to feed her children).

Strength & Abilities[]

Due to being far bigger than the average wolves, Garms are capable to easily kill an average human with their fangs and claws, even if it goes to armored knights. Since wolves are quite fast and agile, Garms are even far most faster and their strength are enough to install fear to orcs or knights. For a long time, Garms were revered as "mountain gods" in the ancient times due to how powerful they are. They are strong enough to leap very high in the air, almost seemingly "flying".

Unlike most creatures, Garms are capable to use telepathy, probably a unique skill the race can perform. The telepathic skill can affect from one hearer to an entire group of individuals, meaning the telepathy is strong. Some Garms are even capable to use magical properties, the Queen Garm being an example of deflecting Saki's lightning magic easily.

Trivia[]

  • Like most creatures and monsters in the manga, Garms are most likely inspired to Garmrs from the Nordic mythologies. Garmrs are also widely considered as a type of hellhound.
  • According to Marcelos, Garms are considered to be as "demons" and how he views them. As odd it sounds, it would make sense Garms are the results of demonification by evil energy, another great example are the Emperor Demonic Bears.
